Run by experienced Advanced Paramedic Practitioners who have completed an MSc as Advanced Clinical Practitioners, PHECTA is run as a not for profit organisation who's aims and objectives are to provide high quality training for those working in the pre-hospital environment be they First Aid Staff, Ambulance Staff or Doctors.

The organisation is also a private ambulance provider as well as providing event medical cover for large and small events.

Established in 2006, The Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Training Agency (PHECTA) is managed by Experienced State Registered Paramedics and Registered Nurses. The organisations aim’s are to improve standards in pre-hospital emergency care in relation to first aid training, as well as training delivered to health care professionals in order that patients receive the correct care at the correct time and are referred onwards to the correct and appropriate facility.

Prior to the formation of the company, two directors, who are experienced trainers and assessors previously worked as Resuscitation Training Officers working with the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust and the University of Wales College of Medicine at the Pre-Hospital Emergency Research Unit (PERU). This role allowed them the opportunity to identify a need to improve the standard of first aid skills in the community, in industry and with other health care professionals. One of the directors was one of two emergency care facilitators employed by the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust to manage and drive forward modernisation through the Welsh Emergency Care Access Collaborative (WECAC) Project, working with all NHS Trusts in Wales improving such things as minor injuries unit access, care pathways and new methods of working driving the ambulance service forward into the 21st century.

Company history

​

The company directors have many years experience in the pre-hospital and hospital care field from both military and NHS backgrounds. They have also had many years experience with the Voluntary Aid sector in England and Wales, as well as the private and NHS ambulance sector.

 

The directors are highly trained registered professionals and have undertaken IHCD Paramedic Courses, MIMMS, PHTLS, ALS etc. They hold BSc (Hons) Degrees in Pre-Hospital Care, Professional Teaching Qualifications and are ideally suited to providing pre-hospital care training. Two of our directors are Advanced Paramedic Practitioners working in the emergency ambulance and primary care fields.

Each instructor has been selected to join our team following successful completion of our selection process. All of whom, are well known to the directors. Our instructors are of the highest calibre selected because of their knowledge, enthusiasm and teaching ability.

 

Our health sector instructors have professional backgrounds in pre-hospital and hospital care fields. These range from Advanced Paramedic Practitioners,  State Registered Paramedics, IHCD Ambulance Technicians, IHCD Ambulance Care Assistants, Registered Nurses, and Registered Physiotherapists who are supported by Experienced First Aid Trainers and Assessors.

 

Our professional Health Care Team are experienced in the "Real World" of pre-hospital and hospital care. Our staff come from the NHS, Private and Voluntary Sector. They are experienced in their field and are able to place students at ease to enable a pleasant learning experience.
